Did you know that every third bite you eat is directly due to the hard work of bees?

The backbone of today's Hungarian beekeeping sector is formed by small-scale producers . About 88% of honey producers operate as a hobby or part-time, often involving the whole family, nurturing the centuries-old traditions of beekeeping with great passion and knowledge. In recent years, numerous reports have reported that tons of high-quality honey are sitting unsold at home with producers. Due to the saturated honey market and unfavorable market conditions , according to the most pessimistic forecasts, up to two-thirds of beekeepers may give up their activities. This would not only deal a serious blow to the livelihood of families, as a significant decrease in pollinators would also endanger food security and agricultural exports.

As a practicing beekeeper, Róbert also found himself faced with modern reality. His close relationship with bees and respect for inherited knowledge inspired him to find a new way to sell his unsold honey. Thus began a long process of experimentation, the goal of which was to present honey to the world in a new, exciting form – and that is when Pilleméz was born. Róbert primarily wanted to sell his own accumulated acacia honey and did not expect the extremely positive reception that his product would receive. After a year of marketing and numerous encouraging feedback, it became clear that Pilleméz was not just a product, but also a successful initiative. The goal is for Pilleméz to go beyond itself – to provide an answer to the economic challenges of modern beekeeping and to draw attention to the irreplaceable role of bees in maintaining the ecosystem.
