Róbert Farkas, the dreamer of Pilleméz, has been involved in beekeeping for 30 years. He learned the basics by watching and helping his grandfather. According to him, beekeeping is something you have to learn for the rest of your life. For the past 30 years, Róbert has been humbly responding to the changes in nature and the needs of the bees. However, recent years have presented Hungarian beekeepers with increasingly serious challenges. The market has become oversaturated, while purchase prices have fallen drastically – in many cases to a level that no longer even covers production costs. As a result, high-quality domestic honey often remains unsold, while cheap, dubious imported honey often ends up on store shelves. As a practicing beekeeper, Róbert also found himself faced with this modern reality. His close relationship with bees and respect for inherited knowledge encouraged him to find a new way to sell his unsold honey. Thus began a long process of experimentation, the goal of which was to present honey to the world in a new, exciting form – and that's when Pilleméz was born.
